Mid flow of the summer season and flags are out in various locations over the next few weeks. Love receiving pictures of the team having fun and making spaces look vibrant and colourful and it’s even more special when I get photos sent through by other friends attending the festivals who have recognised my work

Working as a freelancer and a solo businesswoman r

Working as a freelancer and a solo businesswoman running my own company is super exciting but also really tough and challenging but at the end of 2022 something changed and I was approached by the still emerging @re_action_collective finding their feet but with a goal to bring together like-minded individuals/businesses/CIC’s & charities to challenge product marketing - the twisted advertising that tells us we need everything to be shiny and new. Instead they want to change peoples mindsets and encourage reuse, repair and recycling saving overproduced products and textiles from heading straight to landfill.

Two years on from my own involvement the collective has grown rapidly and now includes almost 40 separate organisations all bringing their own experiences, knowledge and skills from across the globe. Many of us have had opportunity to collaborate on various projects but this weekend was the first Reaction Collective weekender and it was EPIC!!

We met each other face to face, discussed ideas, held workshops, viewed a fantastic film, walked, talked, created, ate amazing food and shared skills and inspiring stories all in the beautiful setting of the Peak District.

Summer is always chaotically hectic for @littlerecreationsuk - with Festivals, Weddings and Corporate Events back to back in the diary so I had doubts right up to the week before leaving that I would even make it to this special event, but WOW how grateful I am that I made it!!!!

Thank you tribe, you bring me joy and i am humbled to be part of such an inspirational collection of demonstrators

Last year…. Maybe the year before 🤷🏻‍♀️ … a while ago I had 20,000 unused festival wristbands donated from a London Festival

20,000 ….TWENTY THOUSAND!!!

I have slowly been using them, tassels on flags, tags for bags but haven’t even touched the sides!
So this week I made a weaved square of fabric, time consuming but worth it as now I can make other items with the fabric I create!

It was great to see Micheal and Jack from Preloved Sports CIC out and about last week at the National Outdoor Expo 2024.... made me smile to see the banner I created for them earlier in the year make another appearance.

But, just imagine my surprise when I recieved a message from a friend and part of my Festival family posing in front of it asking where I am? 😆😆
Unfortunately I wasn't there but reminded me what a small world it is and LOVED that my work was recognised

Can't wait to see where the Preloved Team take it next and who else might see it

I was gifted two pairs of these beautiful, upcycled cashmere wrist warmers a few years ago and wear them almost everyday, so when I saw holes appearing I had no other choice than to fix them…

Sitting on this fresh but blue skied #citizenfriday morning it was a lovely relaxing start to my day.

Fixings can be hidden but for these I wanted to make a statement and show off my mend with pride 🪡

These little weaving kits are super handy to fix little holes and make a big statement if you use contrasting colours. Its one of the 'must haves' in my sewing kit.
